Dr. Leon W Crawford

Leading the Team

Having a compassionate heart for the community takes a special person. It takes an innovative, trailblazing and determined individual. We are excited to share with the community and partners the "brains" behind our organization.

Meet The Founder

After one trip to The Dream Center, Dr. Leon Crawford heard the words, “Get A Life.” He returned from Los Angelos California to Michigan on a quest to help serve the community. In 2007, Get A Life Inc was established with a focus to make a change in the Metro Detroit Area by providing food for high-risk individuals such as seniors and families in need. At the time, Get A Life fed over five hundred families by partnering with our local food pantry, Forgotten Harvest. With a need to help restore the community, Get A Life offered neighborhood beautification services such as raking leaves and shoveling snow. Dr. Crawford continued to envision ways to help the community. Get A Life was later revamped in 2022, with a focus to support the youth in addition to shoes and toys. He wanted youth to have skills that will help make the community a better place. Boys2Men was launched in 2018 as a Summer Program that equipped youth with skills such as money management, professional dress, dating etiquette, carpentry, and car maintenance skills. Dr. Crawford has a newfound vision to expand community resources to veterans in need of housing. Dr. Crawford continues to partner with community leaders to bring more programs to our local town of Inkster Michigan and the Metro Detroit area. Dr. Crawford is a husband, father to five children and a grandfather to seven grandchildren. He enjoys spending his leisure time on the golf course. Dr. Leon Crawford has received recognition from Channel 7 news. He was honored and received the Detroit 20/20 awards for his phenomenal work in the community.
